External drives will invariably fail, and since most people falsely believe their external HD is their "safety", this error of perspective must be countered by yet another external copy of ones data. Being the backup failsafe to the first external HD, not to the data on the computer which never should be counted in terms of data protection as "a copy".ģ. Any drive connected, backup or otherwise, is not to be considered a safe data redundancy.Ģ. Protected data redundancy begins at the second external copy due to:ġ. Only the second external HD is your first safe data redundancy. All data on the first external HD is your backup.ģ. All data on the computer is just that, your data.Ģ. Never make the HUGE mistake everyone else does, thinking a single external HD is a safe data backup Yourself as well, a SINGLE external data backup is by far the biggest mistake people make in general. Which is why I and many dont use Itunes and Iphoto specifically.īut my wife has 16,000+ photos and growing! She is down to 50 gigs remaining on the 128 gig drive.
